The Kind Mind Co.

Brand Creation & Product, Packaging and Content Design for Adaptive Art Tools Program

Can there exist accessible art tools to help individuals with wide-ranging motor disabilities express themselves more autonomously? The educators at the California-based accessible-education institution The Bridge School approached my team with a unique challenge.

I was tasked with becoming subject matter expert, charting a course for affordable and effective product solutions, all aspects of principal design, and our communication and launch partnerships in the community.

We were honored t be featured by the Microsoft Adaptive Labs and used as a case study in adaptive design.

My mission creating the Kind Mind Company brand was clear - give autonomy and self-reliance to artists, kids and adults everywhere, regardless of physical ability.

My team spend a year doing intensive deep dive research not only into the potential market, but the breadth and depth of need not only being underserved, but entirely overlooked. It was critical to meet with and watch kids with a range of motor disabilities play, create, and strive to have a voice.

From there, the product forms, colors, special features, value proposition and story unfolded beautifully. We tested. We re-tested. We sought feedback and feelings. Then, we launched, and got to let our partners at The Bridge School be the heroes and tell theirs.

This brand now thrives in specialty and online retail spaces and is a consistent high-volume DTC seller - while giving back to the global disabled community.
